Who else did everything they could possibly think of during your first pregnancy to avoid stretch marks only to get them in the final weeks before having your baby? Are you with me?? I thought I was in the clear even though I gained a whopping 75 pounds (and I’m 5’4 so that was a lot) but alas I still got the marks – but not until 37 weeks and then they just came! I was so mad at first because I thought I had done it all right and had even gained the majority of my weight up until that point without a mark. But it was no use. Those marks were there to stay.
After I had my daughter Jordyn though, something changed in the attitude I had toward my body. I looked in the mirror and instead of seeing an over-sized, swollen, exhausted and flabby body, I would look at my baby next to me and have a new appreciation for my body that just made a HUMAN. Another complete human that was perfect and could breathe and see and eat and think all on her own… and I built that. It kind of blew my mind. I read somewhere on some blog that stretch marks were kind of like battle wounds that would always remind you of what you have been through and accomplished. I also have a c-section scar to prove that:).
This pregnancy I have been so much more comfortable with my body and the way it is growing and expanding to accommodate my little boy. But I also came across a new new brand of pregnancy skincare when I was about 2 months pregnant that I decided to try and I am in LOVE with it. At this point I won’t get mad if the stretch marks come again toward the end of this pregnancy, but I still love pampering myself every day with these two products – MamaMio TummyRub Butter for my belly, and BoobTube for my… well, boobs (I swear I’m always glad I never got a boob job because they get so big real fast during my pregnancies!). I want you guys to enjoy it too so I am giving a full size of each away from now until next Bump Day! It smells so good and is really smooth. You will LOVE it.
