As you know by now we love motherhood and we love to celebrate some awesome moms out there that are inspiring in their own unique way. Today we are excited to talk to Tara Mills, a Navy wife and mother of almost 2 babes! Tara thank you for your family’s sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy and thank you for sharing your story with Mommi!
Tara we are very excited to talk to you about your motherhood journey. Tell us about your upcoming arrival next month!:
We are currently anxiously awaiting baby boy #2’s arrival at the end of July and we also have another son that just turned 2 in April! He is a very busy little boy that doesn’t sit still unless he is sleeping!
How has your pregnancy been going so far?:
My actual pregnancy itself hasn’t been too challenging, aside from the horrible ligament pains I get because he is so low. It has been a challenging pregnancy, however, based on our current circumstances! My husband and I wanted another baby so bad, but last fall my husband decided to join the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, and was scheduled to leave for boot camp in early May! Aside from the fact that he would miss a huge chunk of our second babies beginning of life, he was also advised, by his recruiter, to not get pregnant with Baby #2 until right before he was leaving for bootcamp. With that feedback we decided to put a our future pregnancy on hold.
So with the plans in place to wait for Baby #2 what happened to change that course of action?:
Well, mid-November we received a call by my husband’s recruiter that they wanted to change his ship out date to the beginning of February, and of coarse we said yes because we wanted to get the whole process over knowing he would be gone for training for 6-8 months. This turned out to be the biggest blessing in disguise, because that following weekend we were shocked to find out I was pregnant with baby number 2! He left for Chicago in February, and we were able to see him for a day at his graduation, and then he has been in Texas ever since!
Will your husband be back by the time you have your little babe?:
Baby boy’s due date is July 22nd and my husband is set to graduate July 24th! We are hoping this baby stays put until he graduates so he doesn’t miss the delivery! We still are unsure whether he will have an additional 3 months of training without us joining him, or if we can finally be together again, based on what type of job he is offered for his next orders.
Tell us what it has been like as a mom of a 2-year old with one on the way with your hubby around:
Being a “single mom” of a 2 year old boy, and not having my husband around since I was 15 weeks pregnant is probably the hardest thing I have ever done! Not only do I feel the guilt of my 2 year old boy not understanding why his dad is gone, I’m also feeling exhausted every day having to do it all on my own. This sweet boy growing in my stomach hasn’t had the opportunity to grow hearing his dad’s voice which is hard for me. Overall though, what gets me through is that I am so grateful for the sacrifice my husband is making for his country and his family, and I just cannot wait for the end of July to be here already!!
Tara we are so excited for the upcoming birth of Baby #2 and hope your husband is back in time for the birth! Please keep us updated and thank you again for sharing your story!
