Today we bring you our “Momspiration” from Team Mommi member Keri Elkin or as many know her—the New Jersey Fit Mama.
In Keri’s words…Having kids was my inspiration for motivating moms to be healthy & fit during and after their pregnancy. My hope is to keep as many moms out of “mom jeans” as possible through yoga.
Not just a stretching class but authentic yoga…which is mindful movement, breathing exercises to deal with life, and an internal work-out. All of these things and more are practice towards being healthy moms and healthy moms are more apt to raise healthy kids.
Healthy moms are also more likely to drink Mommi shakes, too :-). Just like my kids have to learn math at school, I am their mentor to learn how to grow-up healthy and so are all the other moms out there. That includes breathing before reacting to kids tantrums, fights, misbehaving and other antics. Having kids has taught me to be conscious to relax and breath and enjoy being here and now with them.
Keri lives in NJ with her husband, 2 kids & 18 year old cat. She has been teaching yoga for 10 years and is about to complete her training in Yoga Therapy. This summer she is looking forward to taking Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga classes.
